Public release

Consortium members and partners get early access to all contributions two years before the public, as part of the OpenHI Early Access License. Read more about our consortium here .

Release phases

What's live, what's building, what's next

Three tiers: public today, consortium early access while we build, and the first public code release.
Live

Open ontology framework (OURS)

Public at ours.dev. Our open ontology framework for models, vocabularies, and mappings.

In development

Platform, documentation, design & research

API infrastructure, reference architecture, design system, and reference applications are actively under development. Consortium members receive early access now. OpenHI AI model and research continues on its own timeline, not tied to the 2027 public code release.

Public release

First open code batch · end 2027

First public open-source release of platform infrastructure and reference applications. The AI model and research program follows a separate schedule.

Consortium partners co-steer priorities and shape what ships publicly. Reach out if a milestone matters to your organization.

Current priorities

What we're focused on now

The near-term arc. Where the team's energy is going in 2026.
  • Expand platform API infrastructure and reference architecture at openhi.dev
  • Grow consortium early access for partners shaping the public release
  • Publish research and extend the OURS ontology framework at ours.dev
  • Build community hubs starting in Atlanta, with more forming globally
  • Prepare design system and reference applications for consortium preview
